Jungle trek equipment list

The rainforest is a sight that everyone should behold first hand at some point in their life. This is becoming especially true as deforestation is cutting back the boundaries of the rainforest day by day. By seeing the rainforest first hand, you will hopefully grasp why it is so important to save it.

If you do travel to warmer climes, it’s important to make sure you’re prepared for it, as travelling in a more tropical environment is a bit different from camping in a rainy field in Wales.

For example, people planning on going for a trek through the rainforest will need to have well stocked rucksacks, however. So here’s a rundown of the essentials you’ll need.

Clothing-wise, you should pack outfits that are lightweight and wrinkle-resistant. They should dry quickly, and be able to withstand a good deal of hardship.  To be absolutely clear- your clothes will not stay dry, so make sure you always have a spare set handy. A hat will also be useful for keeping the sun off you.

As far as sleeping goes, you’ll spend most of you nights rocking yourself to sleep in a hammock. While the nights can be as warm as the days, sometimes a big of extra warmth will be needed, so it’s a good idea to back a sleeping bag. Down sleeping bags are great for keeping you warm, but aren’t so good when it gets wet. A synthetic sleeping bag on the other hand is bulkier, but if it gets wet (and it probably will) it will still keep you warm.

Other essentials that you will need include sun cream, a well stocked first aid kit and a travel towel. It goes without saying that the rainforest is crawling with insect life as well, so a good quality mosquito repellent is a must.
