Vacations in the Caribbean: A Look at Puerto Rico

Many people don’t realize the true abundance of beauty Puerto Rico holds within.  Then again, many people don’t realize that this tiny little island is actually an unincorporated territory of the United States.  It is also one of the best honeymoon destinations in the Caribbean.

So what makes Puerto Rico so popular?  Why do so many tourists and honeymooners flock to the island each year?

Several Key Attractions: The island is home to many key attractions that lure people in each year.  Among these include Old San Juan, Castillo de San Felipe del Morro (fortifications) and the Bacardi Rum Factory.  Each of these tourist attractions in Puerto Rico add to the unique heritage and provide an excellent educational opportunity to anyone traveling here.

Activities: Regardless of your vacationing style, Puerto Rico has it all.  For the adventurers, the island is home to El Yunque rainforest where you can hike the trails of the lush mountainous forest or zip line through the canopy.   If you are more of a beach bum, Puerto Rico is home to some of the world’s best beaches.

Great Weather: What else do you expect when you are in the Caribbean!  Puerto Rico has that highly desirable weather tourists seek when on vacation.  This is also why vacations in Puerto Rico are extremely popular during the winter months.  Laying out on the beach in January while avoiding the snow in parts of the Midwest and Northeastern states is a tradeoff anyone can appreciate!

Many Popular Hotels: People surprisingly will choose destinations where many recognizable hotel chains are located.  First, this creates a sense of safety and security in the area.  Second, people looking to redeem hotel reward points at Marriott’s, Hilton’s or Starwood properties will have a better chance using them here.  One area of particular popularity is San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico.  Here you will find the majority of common hotel brands.

Puerto Rico is certainly a top destination of choice for many travelers.  The island definitely has something for everyone.  One trip here and you will wonder why you had never been before!
