Most people know of Majorca holidays as alcohol laden dance frenzies late into the night. While that is certainly a possibility for many a traveler there is much more to do in Majorca than just party. If you are taking a family or are just not the party animal that you once were never fear Majorca holds a treasure chest full of excitement. What did you think? I was going to tell you not to go to the beach in Majorca. This place gets 300 days of sun per year of course you are going to the beach. The local favorite is Alcudia, it is over 9 miles long and the water is safe for the kids. Magaluf, Palma Nova, and Puerto Pollenca are also popular. Palma de Majorca

The history of this place alone is enough to make me want to visit. It has been influenced by the Arabs, the north Africans, the Spanish, the Italians, the Romans not to mention others over the centuries. There are cathedrals and mosques, as well as museums and souvenir shops. The city has a lazy pace as many Spanish cities do, but the tropical influence here makes it all the more pronounced.

Caves of Drach

Man made formations are always impressive but geology can be more so. For a stunning formation head to the Caves of Drach. You will find countless stalactites and the largest underground lake in the world. There are guided tours year around and you can take a classical music gondola tour of the lake.

The Historical Town of Manacor

Manacor is a growing town with some interesting industry and lots of history. It is located in a mountainous area of Majorca and experiences some interesting weather as a result. It is famous for its pearl industry and its olive wood carving. Both industries offer tours year around and offer something different. Aside from the usual water sports and other tourist activities Manacor offers some interesting alternative.

Bellver Castle

No European vacation would be complete without a visit to a castle. Bellver Castle is one of the most interesting in Spain and one of the only circular castles in Europe. Over the years it has been used as a residence, a prison, a fortress and most recently a museum. It is well worth the trip.

The island of Majorca has many more attractions than I can possibly mention here. All I can say is that if you have never been book a Majorca holiday and you will see why so many people make it a regular destination.

Alicante Tourist Information

Alicante is located on the Costa Blanca in Spain. The Alicante airport is called El Altet which serves most of the major European cities. It is currently being expanded to be able to service the long-haul destinations of the Americas. Most tourists arriving here are on package tours or villa holidays.

There is much to see and do in Alicante. The castle of Santa Barbara is the largest medieval fortress in Europe, has far sweeping views over the city and the Mediterranean Sea.  The beautiful promenade of La Explanada de España with its 6.6 million red, black and cream tiles is a beautiful place to take a stroll.

Alicante is a busy vibrant city, with many tree lined streets filled with shops, boutiques, bars restaurants and consulates. Getting around Alicante by car can be daunting and there is no better way to see the city than the Turibus.

The bus stops at all the popular tourist attractions such as the Plaza del Mar, Archaeological Museum, Sta Barbara Castle, Central Market, Luceros, Renfe Station, Maisonnave (the shopping area), the Theatre and the Rambla.

The Turibus tours Alicante from 10am until 2pm and then from 5pm until 7pm can comfortably seat eighty tourists. Programmes can be purchased onboard and are available in at least three languages. A ticket costs only €8 (€5 for kids and pensioners) and is valid all day so you can hop on and off when you like and make of the day what you most would like to see and do.

Of course most people visit Alicante for the fantastic Alicante weather which can be enjoyed the whole year round.

Alicante has many beautiful beaches with San Juan and its 7 kilometre stretch of white sand being the most popular one. Alicante also has a beautiful marina and a ferry terminal servicing Oran and Alger in Algeria.
